Astrophysicist & Engineer

About Me

A Bit About Marika

Marika's passion for tutoring began as an elementary school student, supporting younger students and her younger siblings with math and reading. In the 25+ years since, Marika's experiences have expanded to include K-12 Math and Science, ACT/SAT Prep, as well as college level Math, Astrophysics, Engineering, and Computer Programming. While typically focusing on STEM topics, she is well versed in Reading/Writing support as well. Marika's diverse background allows her to connect academic concepts with real-world applications, making learning both engaging and practical.

Marika holds a BA in Computer Science and Theatre Production/Acting and a BS in Physics/Astronomy and Mechanical Engineering. She completed master’s-level coursework and comprehensive exams for a PhD Astronomy and Graduate Certificate in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, contributing to multiple research projects before pivoting into full-time, high-level engineering.

Professionally, Marika has worked as an Autonomous Robotics Aerospace Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman and a Physics Patent Examiner focused on electric engines. Earlier in her career, she served as a Scientist on the Dark Energy Survey at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, a Mechanical Engineer at Harley Davidson Motor Company, and a Quality/Manufacturing/Product Engineer at UTC Aerospace Systems.

Why choose online tutoring?

In recent years, students of all ages have shown and increased need for access to virtual academic support. Marika's background in technology has provided her with the ability to support students remotely. With both group workshops and individualized sessions, Marika makes sure to engage students and classrooms, using an interactive learning style - meeting the student where they are and guiding them to the tools to their own success. Additionally, Marika enjoys working with students of all levels of confidence and ability.

Subjects

Subjects Offered

Marika Erin STEAM Education provides a wide range of academic, creative, and coaching support—with an approach that’s flexible, ADHD-friendly, and student-centered. Every subject is taught with clarity, care, and the understanding that learning is not one-size-fits-all. If a specific subject isn’t listed, families are still encouraged to reach out—custom support may still be available.

STEM

STEM sessions are grounded in both advanced academic knowledge and real-world experience. With a background in engineering and astrophysics, Marika supports students across the full spectrum—those who need concepts broken down with patience and creativity, and those tackling the most advanced or accelerated material. She meets learners where they are and helps them build not only skills, but confidence.
